Manager
Role purpose
To manage the Firm’s Audit clients in accordance with the guidelines set out by the firm.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with client management and assess client’s satisfaction
- Select appropriately skilled team to match engagement requirements with individual and team capabilities
- Identify procedures to improve engagement economics, perform necessary procedures more effectively and eliminate low value work
- Proactively monitor and address issues regarding billing and collections
- Communicate ideas/opinions and information to the audit team and listen/respond to other team members views
- Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance service delivery
- Generate new business opportunities and proactively identify opportunities to sell firm services which add value to the client and that display an understanding of the client’s competitive situation
- Delegate effectively and monitor progress to ensure expectations are met through initiating discussions with service team and obtaining on-going feedback from client
- Foster effective teamwork and empower staff to allow them to achieve engagement and personal performance objectives
- Conduct timely performance reviews and provide them with counselling and career advice
- Perform appropriate annual client reassessment procedures
- Foster an efficient, innovative, and team-oriented work environment
- Set objectives and communicate effectively
- Be accessible and maximize contribution of staff
- Understand the Firm’s service lines and actively assess/present ways to apply knowledge and services
- Take ownership for the work of the team
- Manage, motivate and provide guidance to staff
- Identify training needs and provide training through arranging and presenting at suitable courses
- Monitor team’s work to ensure it is consistent with the firm’s quality standards and audit approach
- Be conscious of professional liability
- Refer ethical, independence and conflict issues associated with clients and assignments to the Partner
- Ensure team compliance with the Firm’s risk management policies and procedures
- Responsible to the audit engagement partner on all major matters concerning the client audit
- Any other task reasonably assigned to the staff member and within their skill set
Educational and Professional Qualifications
- Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy or Business Administration major in Accountancy or any Accounting related courses
- Certified Public Accountant
- 4 to 6 years of Post Qualification Experience
- Currently in public practice or having recently been in public practice
- A team leader able to manage a varied and large portfolio of clients and provide value-added services to new and existing clients
- Excellent communication skills – both written and oral English
- A strong personality with excellent presentation skills
- Proactive with staff and clients and able to work under pressure to meet client expectations and deadlines
- Well versed with IFRS and ISA (knowledge of AOIFI, Commercial Companies Law and other relevant regulations would be an advantage)
- Well versed with various accounting software and applications used by different industry sectors and comfortable in a computerized environment
- The ability to grow the business, negotiate fee increases, prepare high quality proposals and cross-sell services to clients
- The ability to assist with training by both tutoring and arranging suitable courses
- The ability to identify quality new staff through recruitment process
- A leader in the development of existing staff through the appraisal process and promotion recommendations
- An effective manager of resources to obtain optimal utilization and recoveries on engagements and to ensure control over WIP and debtors
- Liaising with cross service line and overseas based teams to deliver efficient and effective audits
- Represent the Firm in a professional manner at all times through punctuality, appearance and presentation
