Junior Associate

Role purpose

Responsible for assisting with the preparation of monthly financial analysis reports, developing, and maintaining department budgets and generating cost reports. The successful candidate will also collect pertinent information for third party audits, oversee financial reporting and operations and will be the first point of contact for accounting issues.

Main Duties & Accountabilities:
  • Prepare accounting related entries to numerous registers, journals, and logs
  • Develops strategies for resolving complex client problems.
  • Support accounts payable activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness of invoice creation and entry
  • Perform monthly bank settlements
  • Regularly maintain detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts
  • Provide detailed analyses and explanations of all transactions
  • Review client practices within an assigned area of responsibility and refer possible problems and solutions to team leader quickly
  • Keep team manager informed of progress
  • Monitor own time against budget and inform team Supervisor of potential variances on a timely basis
  • Take ownership of personal career development (e.g. actively contribute to setting objectives)
  • Assess own performance, seek and incorporate feedback from supervisors and team members
  • Proactively suggest ways to improve own performance/approach to work and client service delivery.
  • Develop understanding of service offerings within and across lines of service to identify opportunities to meet client needs
  • Demonstrate awareness of firm’s risk management policies and procedures by identifying independence and conflict issues to team supervisor and/or in-charge, and consult with them when variances to standard practices are encountered
  • Any other task reasonably assigned to the staff member and within their skill set
Educational Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy/Accounting Technology/Management Accounting or any related courses
  • Non-CPA Professionals
  • 1-2 years’ experience in accounting or related field is a plus
  • Experience in using QuickBooks is a plus
  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Keen to details and can work under pressure

    Payroll Specialist (Senior Associate)

    Role purpose

    To conduct payroll processing to the clients of the Firm, and report to the Supervisor/Manager of any critical issues identified during the process, as well as ensuring that the work is done in accordance with the Firm’s policies and client’s request.

    Main Duties & Accountabilities:
    • Full cycle payroll processing for client service.
    • Review payroll reports and timesheets for correctness before payroll transactions.
    • Make sure that all payroll concerns and queries are attended on time.
    • Prepare periodic payroll reconciliation and submit reports to the payroll manager for review.
    • Prepare and process statements of payment.
    • Handle and process and execute payments and pay checks.
    • Provide performance feedback, training and conduct performance reviews.
    • Develop people through effectively delegating tasks and providing guidance to staff.
    • Develop understanding of client industries and identify value added recommendations.
    • Any other task reasonably assigned to the staff member and within their skill set.
    Educational and Professional Qualification:
    • Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is advantage
    • 2-3 years of Post Qualification Experience
    • Work experienced in BPO industry is an advantage.
    • Excellent communication skills – both written and oral English
    • Proactive with staff and clients and able to work under pressure to meet client expectations and deadlines.
    • Well versed with various accounting software and applications used by different industry sectors and be comfortable in a computerized environment.
    • The ability to identify the training needs of junior team members and provide constructive feedback and appraisals.
    • The ability to prepare statutory accounts including consolidations.
    • Represent the Firm in a professional manner at all times through punctuality, appearance, and presentation.

      Main Duties & Accountabilities:

      Technical performance

      • Demonstrates a breadth and depth of technical knowledge.
      • Develops strategies for resolving complex client problems.
      • Shows an appreciation of broad commercial implications in a range of technical issues.
      • Develops experience of special transactions.

      Client Focus

      • Develop and maintain productive relationships with client management and assess client’s satisfaction
      • Refer ethical, independence and conflict issues associated with clients and assignments to the Partner

      Internal value

      • Takes responsibility for allocation and review of staff’s work.
      • Plans, manages and completes client engagements under the direction of and in consultation with a partner; clears jobs directly with partner.
      • Liaises with other offices/divisions where necessary.
      • Ensures the team is kept informed of progress on all client matters within portfolio.

      Development of the business

      • Participates in proposals, both written and oral; researches new businesses as part of the proposal process.
      • Builds and uses a network of contacts across the firm in all practice areas.

      Financial management

      • Assists in monitoring overall financial performance of group and takes action to ensure financial performance reflects business objectives.
      • Ensures billing is conducted regularly and followed up.
      • Assists in specific tasks such as staff planning exercises, training, monitoring staff study performance.
      • Participates, if requested, in staff counselling.
      • Takes part, if requested, in graduate recruitment interviewing.

      Planning the business

      • Contributes to the preparation of the group budget.
